I’ve heard it said when choosing a vehicle, don’t get too focused on the features. Make sure you pay your attention to the structure, the make and the drive. But when you are talking about off- road caravans you have to pay as much attention to the features as you do to the structure and the drive. When you think about it, an off road caravan is as much a home as it is a vehicle. In fact it is a home that can go wherever you go.
It is a good idea to talk about the chassis, the suspension, the frame and towing capabilities but we also need to talk about the details, the features. Just like in a home, a place to sleep is an important thing. It would be awkward if you had no bedroom or bed and slept on the couch all your life in your own home. Just as it is important to have a comfortable sleep area in your own caravan. Caravans come with different sleeping options. You can choose the standard double bed, an oversized double bed or two single beds so you can have more space to move around.
If you have a small family off road caravans come with the option of bunk beds; sometimes above the seating area. You also have a choice of different mattresses just as you would when choosing a bed for your home. When in such small quarters on a holiday trip where you would get muddy or dirty it is important to have adequate cleaning and bathroom areas. Your options when it comes to bathrooms is simple. off-road caravans can come with a shower and a toilet, some can come with an ensuite with an included vanity. This is usually an option for couples that won’t be needing any bunk bed space.
A kitchen is another important feature to pay attention to and most come fully furnished. You can choose a wood based finish or a chrome based finish kitchen. Kitchens come with the following feature options, work bench, sink, pressure tap to sink, pump tap to sink, a standard fridge, a fridge system that gives the option of running off either gas or mains power, pull out pantry, internal 3, 2 or 1 burner stove top, external 3, 2 or 1 burner stove top, range hood and microwave oven.
In terms of storage options you have wardrobe space, flip top seats under the dinette or draws under the seats, flip top beds or draws under the beds. For light you have windows within the caravan and the option of a sun roof or a roof hatch with full block blinds. For heating and cooling you have an air conditioner and a heater and for entertainment you have the option of a TV or combination TV/DVD. With so many features and options you can customise your off-road caravan to suit all of your needs so you can feel right at home.
